I have watched him talk. He rarely mangles a sentence, but eventually, in a long conversation, he is likely to trip once or twice. This could be because he is tired, or because he is much slangier in ordinary conversation, and speaking more formally eventually causes the use of a word or phrase that he knows, but rarely uses. There is no need to dig for a deeper explanation. He actually speaks rather well in unscripted conversations. He is not a deep thinker, but he inspires confidence that he is on his toes, and is experienced in running things, and that he is a good guy......
