Jeez, kvkkc1, you're a hard person. People aren't meat. They are human beings and they respond to humane treatment with increased loyalty and hard work. Chambers gets that. That's why I'm glad he's CEO and not you. Of course, I understand where you are coming from. You want to be coldly analytical wrt your investment. But business isn't all analytics. There is a huge people component that needs to be managed well and with subtlety to be successful. People like Roth, Lay, and McGinn didn't understand that and look at the result to their organizations. Chambers does and Cisco's business has held up pretty well in comparison. So think twice before you make broad, sweeping statements like that.

<<Cut the dead weight to get there. In a depression type environment like the telecomms are going thru, it's prudent to lighten up. If they need to hire in a year or two, they can always find new meat, or those former employees tired of flipping burgers or bagging groceries. >>

"Mr. Chambers, we regret to inform you that your lame services are no longer needed by Cisco Systems. Should you tire of greeting at Walmart, and should we need you again, we may be in touch with you. Please turn in your ID badge upon your departure from the building today."
