This is kind've what I was hinting at last week when I commented that Wally's "focus and execute" BS is simply BS. ALL companies have to focus and execute.
Not all companies have effective management to do so. Wally has turned this merger into a pissing match, not the companies. His short sightedness is as much rooted in his age as it is his inability to think big.

While the merger could fail, as many do, both companies face far greater risks (now) alone. HP can't survive with its printer business. Sorry to say, but that's like being Xerox and feeling that you own the copying market. Too many unknowables lie in wait. As a combined company, at least these unknowables will be more easily dealt with.
