(AMD) reaffirmed its earlier guidance of a "small" loss for the first quarter, on sales of about $900 million. Analysts are expecting the company to lose 6 cents a share, on sales of $901.5 million, in the first quarter. In the year-ago first quarter, the chip maker earned $124.8 million, or 37 cents a share, on sales of $1.19 billion. In a press release Wednesday, Advanced Micro said sales of personal computer processors will be in line with seasonal patterns for the first quarter.
