Next to go could be "King of the Hill" and "Smear the Queer." Or should I say "President for Life of the Elevated Bosom of Mother Earth" and "Play Nice with the Effeminate Man-Child." How about "Red Rover"? There's a game likely to decapitate the unwary... At this point, I must make the ritualistic qualifier regarding my deep regard for the humanity of homosexuals, and likewise my cuddly affection for the gawky, bespectacled bookworm who invariably gets blasted in the face with the red rubber ball. A few weeks ago, Christoph used this space to write about the creeping idiocy of bureaucratic mass conformity, thought police, and non-competition dressed up in the guise of "building self-esteem." He was complaining that he had to stay up late addressing Valentines Day cards for everyone in his son's class. His son couldn't give cards to just a few people, because then some might feel left out. The school required that everyone should be liked. I started to wonder what's really going on in this country. Are we becoming a population of cowards? Since that time, I have uncovered a series of ridiculous leftist regulations. I heard on the radio this morning that the phrase "and the winner is..." can no longer be uttered at the Emmys. It would imply that there are also losers. We all know that there are no losers in Hollywood's happy land of make-believe. My point is not that people are stupid. We all know that people are stupid. There are still the Flat-Earthers, and those who would overturn the Scopes Monkey Trial. My point is that enforced ideology is not only dangerous - it is evil. Benjamin Franklin once said, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
