The genie may be out of the bottle, but we can keep the bottle capped in this country, at least, if we choose to. Should we try? Should we consider, for example, laws banning the implantation of genetically modified human embryos into women?

There will always be some nation willing to allow doctors to set up a lab for the very wealthy to order their designer babies. But that doesn't mean we have to allow it in the US.

My basic libertarian views are against adding more government regulation, but OTOH I do recognize that there is a legitimate, though limited, role for government, and am unclear whether this is one of the areas that should be included within the government ambit.
