Unfortunately, among top-rank scientists in the field there is exactly one who agrees, MIT professor Richard Lindzen, and even he is highly politicized: he changed his registration from Democrat to Republican over GW, and receives lots of money from industry & political sources for his research. Naturally, Dubya selected him as his point man on GW, but he wasn't able to sway the consensus of a scientific panel (which Dubya then ignored.) The scientific consensus at every level is overwhelmingly that GW is very dangerous, the political consensus is overwhelmingly: "I donwanna deal with it." It means raising taxes on gasoline, putting lots of restrictions on people, and not getting re-elected. The internet is loaded with information debunking GW, the scientific literature is not. Luckily science has almost no importance in politics, so nothing much will happen. All those exempt from scientific laws will of course be spared the consequences. Hot enuff for ya? Docnytimes.com December 19, 2001 This Year Was the 2nd Hottest, Confirming a Trend, U.N. Says By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS GENEVA, Dec. 18 (AP) — The Earth's temperature in 2001 is expected to be the second highest in the 140 years that meteorologists have been keeping records, the United Nations weather agency said today. "Temperatures are getting hotter, and they are getting hotter faster now than at any time in the past," said Michel Jarraud, deputy secretary general of the World Meteorological Organization. Nine of the 10 warmest years since 1860 have occurred since 1990, the agency said, and temperatures are rising three times as fast as in the early 1900's. As it has in the past, the organization attributed much of the warming to the greenhouse effect from burning fossil fuels. <SNIP>
