There is often a difficulty in line- drawing. Some people want greater homogeneity, and lurch towards compactness. Some people want to emphasize historical connection, and look to inclusive expansion. But there are limits to how well it works, like language and custom. Europe will resist nationhood, even if it permits a further degree of confederation, for example........

As long as it remains more powerful then Argentina. The people there do not want to be part of Argentina, and the cost to maintain the Faulkands while high for the number of people on the island, are not a serious drain on the finances of the UK.
