This post comes across totally different from your first.
I wish you had posted it first, or in place of, that other!

Thanks for the reply, J.C.

You've given me reasons why you believe in your diety, and you've also stated that, for you, life would be forlorn and barren without that belief. But you haven't yet answered why you would feel forlorn and barren without your belief.

Is this just an experimental conclusion? You tried non-belief and felt forlorn?

In your post, the closest I saw to an answer was:
>>I feel comfortable with Christian teachings as a guide to how I live my life, because my heart tell me they inspire a good life.<<

This morality, comfort, and inspiration is not unique to Christiandom, or even to theism.

You remind me of a junkie who says:
"I can imagine how pointless and forlorn life would be without a fix. How can a life abstaining from heroin not be barren?"

Just because you can't imagine a satisfying life outside of your mental construct, does not mean it doesn't exist. And don't assume that your particular brand of smack is the best.

J. C. Dithers...

>>I feel comfortable with Christian teachings as a guide to how I live my life, because my heart tell me they inspire a good life. One might say that I am not bogged down in the details you mention. Because I cannot understand the most fundamental aspects of my existence through my intellect, and because I see a hand of purpose (rather than chaos) at work in the unfolding of time and human existence, I am led to the belief in a Deity. That works for me. I have no interest in cajoling others to share my belief. I made the observation that, from my point of view, life would be barren and forlorn without my faith. >>

What a wonderfully refreshing outlook!!
