Skeeter, >>how can a guy get 6 or 7% with minimal risk?

Just send you money to KT and let him do it for you. <g>

I have bought some higher yield instruments to augment my income. Two I have bought is APJ and TLM preferred A. Gabelli has a tax advantage 7.2% at par preferred stock which is rated (I think) of AA or better. It has been trading above it's par so I keep watching.

The folks on SI have generated a list of companies that send good dividends and here is the list. I have not looked under the hood lately at all of them, but a place to start looking.
HGT, TRU, LRT, DOM, BPT, UST, CRT, SJT, NLY, HCN, USU, WTU, PCL, NAT, VLCCF, CHC, ALD, FUN, and PSD.

Disclosure I own TRU, NAT, and USU. TRU is a depleting resource company and I do not plan on holding it for very long.
