Depending upon the complexity of the transactions, this is not the case at all - particularly given the CPU hogging nature of many of the ASP and JAVA scripts used to run these applications.

Or, if you really believe that to be true, then there is absolutely no reason whatsoever, of any kind, to ever purchase a web server with more than a Celeron or Duron 900, a bunch of spindles, and a really fast trio of load balanced NICs, is there?

That one type of test is just as valid, no more, no less, as the SuperPI benchmark.
