These sort of Baby Bell start ups were a strategic disaster resulting from decisons made by Congress to force Baby Bells to sell excess capacity. Start ups companies like this cannibalzied the telcom pricing structure and created irrational competition in the telcom sector.

Every time that Congress deregulates, they make the same mistake. They force companies to piss away their services for no profit margin. It takes industries like telecom and energy a long time to regroup and consolidate while they wait for these wannabe start ups to run out of money.

Over the past decade, this has created an exaggerated sense of deflation. Thankfully, the House has passed a bill to provide special provisions for high speed internet to protect the industry as information services as opposed to telecom services. This will prevent companies from having to sell off their excess capacity at a discount. No more free lunches!! It is a bastardization of every principle of free market capitalism that we have come to know and love.
