Carl,

I didn't mean anything critical by the "cut-and-paste" remark. It's just that you had a lot of factual material, and carefully organized numbered arguments. As I was grinding out my posts word-by-word I was saying to myself: I really should write up some notes and have my arguments all worked out in some kind of outline form as Carl obviously does, then I could just cut-and-paste and add some text, and it wouldn't take so long.

If you actually did all that on-the-fly I truly am impressed.

I hope to tackle the substance of your post later, but I'll close with this quote I just came across at the front of Meg Greenfield's posthumous book Washington. It's from one of our favorite groups "Emerson, Blake, & Palmer." As you know, the talented Blake not only wrote the lyrics, but did the album covers too. ;-)

"Princes appear to me to be fools. Houses of Commons and Houses of Lords appear to me to be fools; they seem to me to be something Else besides Human Life."

--WILLIAM BLAKE

p.s. The coyotes sound very close tonight. Love that unspoiled nature, but I think the cat and I will stay inside.
