I happen to KNOW the way you feel as I've had similar stuff turn out that way in the past... things I wasn't sure of... but then they turn out even BETTER than my wildest expectations. Sure is nice, isn't it? (o: I didn't say anything yesterday, but I had a *feeling* that this would be a knock-out firing... Maybe it was that my lucky stone felt like it was giving off some excellent vibes the other night!! <gg> The glazes sound terrific . I think I have to do something about this "no digital camera - no website" crapola, man. If this stuff is GOOD, it ought to be out there where I can see it!! lol.. Well, the kiln idea sounds like fun -- but I too have lots of stuff happening this summer... especially until late July-early August as I have friends coming from Europe and will be doing a lot of tripping around and paddling and stuff from about April through to then.. After that, I don't know exactly what will happen next, but maybe some kiln-building will slide in quite neatly. So for now, just file the idea somewhere for future consideration... Gardens should be up front at the moment... Getting something into the EAM Spring Show... and maybe working on your next load of pieces for another firing. Maybe you should even give some thought to summer show in your garden (??). I don't know how popular that is down your way, but quite a few potters up my way have summer shows on weekends in their gardens as it seems that many pottery collectors also happen to be gardeners who love to look at pots, bowls and water trays when they are in a nice setting. Also, one pottery studio up here has been doing this very cool thing for a couple of years now...where they invite a bunch of area potters to set up their stuff just right out in the garden on crude shelving...and they leave it there for about a month...right out in the elements..and people come through, wander around and buy what they like. I've been there a couple of times and the quality of the pieces was outstanding and the variety of styles was very eclectic. Lots of interest from collectors too... lots of stuff was being bought while I was choosing a couple of pieces for my own collection. Anyhow, that's way ahead of where you're probably thinking, but just thought I'd mention it as I don't know if these kinds of things are popular down in your neck of the woods, but they have been popular up here for about a decade now and many potters gear up especially for their garden shows each year. And YAH! Aren't those Sand paintings NEAT?! As I think I've mentioned, a friend is coming over from Europe for a good part of the summer and she and I are intending to trip on out to the coast for awhile... on the Bay of Fundy side where the beaches and mudflats are. I was actually considering tossing a couple of rakes and hoes in with our camping gear...as well as some pails and stuff that could be used for creating sand sculptures and designs on the beach, etc... and maybe photograph some of that stuff. Just a little plan at this point..but we'll see how it all comes together. Whatever happens, I have a feeling that this is gonna be one busy summer... (o: Well, I sure am excited and happy for you. What a wonderful conclusion to your return to working with clay. I am more than a little envious. <gg>
