Bush-Hating Ann Richards Booed

Ann Richards was obviously born with a tin foot in her mouth. Like other Democrats lately, she thinks the coast is clear to assail President Bush, but then gets a most unexpected response.

Richards, "who was governor of Texas until George W. Bush beat her, drew boos when she attacked her nemesis Monday night at the Drama League gala at the Pierre Hotel," the New York Post reported today.

"They don't know how to count votes in Florida," Richards said - a curious statement, because it was the Democrat-dominated counties that couldn't count votes and had Gore fanatics claiming they were too stupid to vote.

"Enron is running the Bush administration's energy policy," she said - a curious statement, because the Washington Times yesterday reported how Enron ran the Clinton administration's energy policy.

When people jeered Richards' partisan attacks, she said to Clinton-loving honoree Liz Smith, "I didn't know you had so many Republican friends."

Two points:

1. Malice

2. The Bush wives did not thrust themselves into the vortex of a public controversy in an attempt to influence the resolution of the controversy. They married people who did.

So much for Legal Aspects of Journalism 101, eh?

I know, I know, I am boring you again.
