Cell-Loc Chongqing JV Gets Formal Chinese Govt OK

CALGARY -- The Chinese Government Chongqing Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation has formally approved the establishment of Cell-Loc Inc.'s (T.CLQ) Chinese joint venture, Chongqing Cell-Loc Wireless Location Ltd.

In a news release, Cell-Loc said Chongqing Cell-Loc is "well positioned to provide technology to wireless carriers that in turn adds location sensitivity to their service offering without having to make any changes to legacy handsets."

Cell-Loc said the new company will develop and make its Cellocate CDMA cell phone location equipment for worldwide markets, with an initial focus on China.

As reported, Cell-Loc owns 35% of the new company, Chongqing Jinmei Communications Co. owns 53% and A-INFO Electronic Technology Group Inc. owns 12%.

Cell-Loc is a wireless location company.

I don't recall them listed as a Qualcomm chip license. Does Lucents license travel to Agere or will a new one be required.

I'm not sure...a spin-off seems different than a sale. I hope Agere needs a new license. The Lucent license was granted on pretty favorable terms.

Did you read the PR as saying that Agere would be providing the communications processor while TI would provide the applications processor?
