Oh great Neo, use my first day back to get me embroiled in Olympic controversy!

No, just kidding. I agree with you about gymnastics, certainly. I'm not sure about other sports, but I worry about the stress put on the bodies of young gymnasts, particularly girls, and if it might have an effect on their ability to carry children to term.

I don't entirely agree with you. Some children are born competitors. If they are introduced to a sport at an early age and ENJOY what they are doing, I see no harm in encouraging them and giving them the opportunity to advance. If they later appear to be "burning out", it is a parent's job to recognize that, and encourage them to go in a different direction. Having said that, I realize that some parents push a child into something the child really doesn't want, usually in entertainment or sports. I do not approve of that.

I think that applies only to or at least mostly to female gymnasts. The male competitors are often older
and can start later. Part of it might be due to how and when people's bodies mature. Part of it might be
because while all gymnasts need good strength to weight ratio, Men's gymnastics has more strength
focused events, and women's (or should I say girl's given the age of some of the competitors) sport has
things like routines on a 4 inch balance beam.
