"the accounting that Enron filed with the SEC did disclose the offshore debt"

Then the accounting failed, due to lack of adoption of rules to keep audits honest. Honest accounting would have identified liabilities, even of offshore accounts, which were instead hidden as long as Enron insiders could. When that information was finally unable to be suppressed any longer, it caused its downfall, and the downdraft of the entire market.

Most scholars say JFK distrusted the intelligence services and would have renovated that agency, or replaced it. Bay of Pigs was the last straw, and Vietnam advisors would have been withdrawn after the '64 election.

All of that changed after the assassination.
