<We've got troops all around the world to fight anachronism, that is. >

Ironically, in decades to come, those troops will morph into troops defending anachronism. They will still be imbued with their sense of purpose and being right, but they will be anachronistic.

Some would argue they already are. In Japan, for example, a lot of people think US troops in Japan are anachronistic.

ElM, What is the zeitgeist one century becomes the anachronism the next. In the early 20th century, the British Empire was by many sensible measures a good thing, bringing civilization to barbarian cultures. Freedom, habeas corpus, democracy, education, rule of law, etc was the zeitgeist. Maoris, Indians and others saw that there were great advantages and so colonisation wasn't very difficult. There was obviously none of the old territorial mass murder and takeover. It was an economic integration. The same as the USA Empire is doing now. Laying the bait, I take it, then I'm colonized! It's much better than marching around the place like Japan's Empire, Ghengis Khan, Adolf Hitler, murdering and plundering anyone who gets in the way.

Right here in NZ, a couple of days ago, we had Donna Awatere Huata, a Maori radical in her youth but now a Member of Parliament for the party I support [I also support Libertarianz], demanding civilisation of barbarian Maori culture [of which she is a primary exponent - to the extent that in her youth she was in favour of the rest of us leaving] by giving notice that she will no longer be sitting on the floor behind the men who sit on chairs [at Maraes, which are Maori meeting houses, like a church in an olde Englishe village].

Just as the Negroes decided they would no longer sit at the back of the bus in the USA, land of the free and brave, equality and all that hypocrisy, Donna has decided that women in a modern society should not be sitting behind the men and shall have the right to speak.

Maybe women on the floor behind the men made sense in Maori times because life was confrontation, power and constant killing. Women were traded possessions to be taken over in war. But most people don't see that as a good way to run a railroad these days.

Donna has decided that Maori culture needs a revamp. She is adopting British Empire culture. I guess she knows that. She has been successfully colonized.

The anachronism which caused WWI, WWII and WTC is alpha male dominance hierarchy megalomania. Donna is getting rid of another little bit of it. In NZ, we now have women running the show. We have the Queen [who was here a couple of days ago], the governor general, prime minister, attorney general, minister of health, minister of Maori affairs, etc, totalling 10 out of 23 ministers. Here's a photo of the happy ministers of Hobbitville dpmc.govt.nz We have the Chief Justice, the president of the Law Society, the CEO of Telecom NZ which is the biggest company, the leader of the Green Party, the previous Prime Minister, the previous Mayors of Auckland.

Women are in the ascendant and holding the levers of power. Life is okay other than far too much crime [burglary, violence and murder]. The guys have run off to cyberspace, the new frontier, leaving the girls to mind the cave [politics and stuff]. The girls think they are in charge!! Hahahaah!!! They are, sort of, in the old stuff. Real men don't dabble in politics.
