MADISON, Wis. -- Kirk Penney and Devin Harris scored 21 points each as Wisconsin clinched at least a share of its first Big Ten title in 55 years with a 74-54 victory over Michigan on Wednesday night.

The Badgers (18-11, 11-5 Big Ten) also wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament as they extended their winning streak to six games.

Wisconsin -- which last won the conference title in 1947, the same year first-year coach Bo Ryan was born -- holds the tiebreaker over co-leaders Illinois, Indiana and Ohio State, each of which is 10-5 with one game remaining over the weekend.

Fans waved signs reading "Big Ten Champs" as the game ended, then poured onto the court to join Ryan and his players in celebrating.

Freddie Owens added 11 points and Mike Wilkinson 10 for Wisconsin.

Michigan (10-16, 5-10) was led by Chris Young with 19 points, while Bernard Robinson Jr. scored 17 and LaVell Blanchard 14.

The Badgers pretty much wrapped up the victory in the first half as they built up a 48-23 lead behind 18 points by Penney and 17 by Harris.

Wisconsin hit its first seven 3-point attempts, including three each by Penney and Harris, in taking a 30-19 lead. Michigan went scoreless the last 6:48 following Young's basket to make it 34-23. The Badgers finished the half on a 14-0 run, capped off by a 3-pointer by Harris in the final seconds.

Blanchard, who scored Michigan's first 10 points of the game, spent the last seven minutes of the half on the bench with three fouls.

Michigan made a brief run at the Badgers early in the second half, starting out with a 10-2 run to pull within 50-33. But Wisconsin responded with 3-pointers by Penney, Wilkinson and Owens to trigger a 13-2 run that stretched the lead back to 63-35.

Michigan, which beat Wisconsin earlier this season at Ann Arbor, never got closer than 16 points the rest of the game.
