Has anyone ever tried to figure up the annual cost of administration of the Social Security system as a % of the vapor capital that "theoretically" exists, and compared it to the equivalent cost of investing at Vanguard or Fidelity (who at least go to the trouble of using custodial banks)?

Not a pretty picture, even allowing, momentarily, that the SS capital exists.
