Actually, three of them were brought down by Intel. Another one was bought by IBM.

Too sweeping of a statement. IBM and Sun have (I know that IBM's services division is its best money maker now). Where else would Sun have made all their money in the late 90s, plus 2000? I don't thing their service division is that renowned. And, IBM definitely makes money in mainframes, probably also in RS, or whatever they call them now.
