Buckey, sometimes burned investors will bash a stock

They were conned, ripped off by the lying CEOs, investor relations and stock promoters so they will vent and bash a stock. I don't blame them and totally understand their feelings. Heck, if it's a bad stock, who cares. It's deserved. Let them kick a dead horse.

What I find to be really funny though is when pump and dumpers who have gotten out of a stock late and lost some money come back and bash the bejesus out of a stock. They are the worst "bashers" out there. What's even more funny though is a stock promoter who didn't get their paycheck from the scammy company. They out their own touts, like TRIM and SEVU. Watching a certain promoter out SEVU has to be the most hilarious thing I've ever seen on the message boards. Now that was a bash fest. The stock promoter and CEO both accusing the other of tons of securities violations. I copied the posts and sent them to the SEC. Then the CEO died of a heart attack.

Hi Buckey; Re: "I am completely perplexed at why people would attack the company and the longs on the board with the fervoiur that they have. I have never seen anything like it. If the stock is toast they why even bother."

I'm not paid to bash Rambus, nor am I invested in the stock, but I am nevertheless the chief "basher".

Here's some ideas that might help explain this:

(1) There are at least 100,000,000 people in the US that are on line. Is it any surprise that someone find it highly amusing to critique stocks?

(2) I'm a show-off at heart. With Rambus, I can show off my ability to understand the memory industry.

(3) After the longs insult you the first time the whole thing devolves into a long term pissing match.

(4) Intellectually, the Rambus case is so multifaceted that it generates its own interest. Even the otherwise dull legal papers are interesting, if you've been following the case.

(5) It makes me feel good to see a company run by scoundrels crash and burn. Posting on the subject makes me feel a part of it. I know that anything I post will be completely ignored by the investment community but I don't care. It's my enjoyment that drives me to post on it, not any dream that I have an effect. In fact, I believe that most of the people who invested in the stock are so stupid that convincing them that the stock wasn't a good buy at $140 per share was completely impossible.

(6) It makes me feel good to see greedy investors, who thought that they'd figured out a way to retire the easy way, end up bankrupt. If you're not too bright, you should just invest in mutual funds, I say.

I'm sure that other bashers have other reasons, but those are some of mine.

SI is about entertainment. You can sometimes get clues about stocks and technology here, but the fact is that if you're not already an expert in the technology the BS is hopeless to sift through. And if you are an expert, you don't need to read SI to find out the facts, LOL!!!

P.S. I agree with mmmary that a lot of bashers are former longs who've realized that they were cheated. Those bashers tend to be the ones with truly amazingly, disgustingly foul mouths (fingers?).
