Mar 04, 2002 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- Swedish communications solutions provider Ericsson has won a contract to supply a provincial IP backbone to China's Guangxi Mobile Communications Co.

Under the agreement Ericsson will deploy its IP backbone routers, based on routers from US-based Juniper Networks. It will also provide customer services such as installation, system support and hardware replacement services. Installation of the equipment will take place at the end of April.

The packet backbone network from Ericsson will span eight cities in China's Guangxi region, enabling Guangxi Mobile Communications to offer high-speed data services and advanced Internet applications to its customers.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

PS: Looks like revenues from this deal could be booked in CYQ2.
