Laz, that only translates if you really believe folks are simplistic enough to have a consistent set of positions within somebody's arbitrarily assigned definitions of what constitutes a 'left' or 'right' position. Most folks I know are not like that. Rigid lefties, like rigid righties, are rare and they permit others to define their every issue (the old kneejerk reflex).

If it's necessary for you to assign either/or labels (because 3 or 5 or 10 labels is too complicated), have at it.

But would a liberal be proposing a rational examination of whether to nuke Saddam Hussein? Would such a liberal be cognizant of the military manpower of Iran, Iraq and SA (the 3 biggest), that SA has the premier air force in the region among Muslim nations, that Kuwait has enough tanks to practically issue one to each citizen at birth, and that Iraq stands out for its inordinately high number of anti-aircraft installations? Knowing such finer points also helps assess military strategies... I don't know any pure lefties who have any interest in potential battle scenarios and strategies.

One of my chief gripes about Clinton was he did not do enough for the soldiers and sailors of our Armed Forces, such as decent compensation.

I don't buy the front line positions of black rights or feminist activists. I'm not opposed to the second amendment. I don't believe throwing money at problems solves them (unless you're throwing money my way <GG>).

I don't think corporations are bad, though I think more than a few have executives with serious problems with honesty in numbers.

I think the Republican & Democratic parties at the national level are 95% identical with a few differences on hotbutton issues that aren't too relevant to me and mine.

I never see pigeons in my neighborhood but if you can find a pigeonhole for me that makes it easier to be fur or ag'in' me without further assessment of my words, that's just ducky with me, have at it.
