They did their Constitutional duty instead of reading polls....

Ah, the principle that it is a higher duty to hold the President accountable for fooling around and lying about it, via impeachment, than to respond to the will of the people you are elected to represent. Yes, that principle! It's right there in the Constitution, somewhere. And the corollary is that it is still nobler, indeed, when the President is of the opposition party. As well as extremely convenient.

As it turns out, it's pretty hard to demonstrate when people are acting out of principle. The other day, Dithers posted about a woman who turned her own son in for murder. Now there's an action out of principle. The only ways I know of to tell that one is acting on principle is if one acts consistently and the principle is long espoused or if the action is against one's apparent interests. Neither is in place in the impeachment scenario.
