Jewel, we don't have a clue what "fire" really is ....

when you think about it. Oh, we can throw the chemistry of combustion together, but that doesn't mean we understand why such an odd thing happens. Did you ever think how nutty it is that we have "fire departments" all over the place? Hundreds of thousands of people whose job it is to deal with this one eccentric phenomena, where things decide to just go up in smoke and flames, we know not why.

Do you think if we visit a planet in another galaxy where there is life, we might observe "Bogamolita" departments all over the place? And when we ask what they are, someone will say, "Excuse me, but my house is bogamoliting!!" And we watch while the house melts into a puddle while Bogamolita-men fight it with oxygen hoses? Or something like that.

Sorry. Just thinking.
