That's been my question. The manufacturers will transition; will the consumer? Is a mobile phone just a mobile phone to the end user. Do they really want data? So far, in Japan and Europe, the consumer demand for cell phone data services hasn't been great.

The content has to be compelling in order to justify the hardware purchase. It will be interesting to see how the category evolves.

Nice to know that Intel's clever managers have a new hobby to occupy themselves with.

...so that they can continue to hand down decrees like, "just use Rambus for everything and stop annoying us with the details, can't you see we're busy expanding into the lucrative cell phone market?"
