3G will sooner or later become necessary. A lot of the cell phone companies are relying on Symbian as their OS.

If that doesn't pan out, and or if the Intel?MSFT combination turns out to be a much better alternative, then Intel stands to sell about 20$ profit into each cell phone. If they capture 40% of the 400+Million phones/year - we are talking 3-4 billion$ profit (on top of the IAG profits). They may cannibalize some of the Flash sales there, esp if the CPU manages to integrate Flash and teh CPU/DSP cores into one chip (but they would be able to charge a premium for the added integration)

The above market is a real possibility that may provide Intel with some surprising earnings in the relatively near future
