I have to format my C drive. My Windoows 98SE appears to have been corrupted and I'll have to re-install it.

Hi, tc.

The last time I was here I complained that when I clicked on History (I have IE) my computer would often freeze and I'd have to do Ctrl alt del twice to reboot.

Two remedies were suggested. I don't remember the hard one, but the easy one was not to click on History, but to use Ctrl H. Since that worked, I considered the problem solved.

The last few days, though, I've had several freezes using Ctrl H. One I couldn't even escape from with Ctrl alt del repeatedly. I had to turn the computer off at the tower.

One thing I've noticed is that there is a lot of noise coming from the tower. As though it's very busy in there.

This evening I defragged and ran scandisk, which found no problems. But it froze after doing that, and it's still sounding hyperactive in the tower. I wonder what it's so agitated about.

Do you, or does anyone, have any thoughts about this?
