US deaths in Vietnam were a heck of a lot less than "300+" per week. There may have been some weeks where the totals were like that, but not many.

I was remembering the time that Life Magazine ran a cover story on the dead for the week; it was about 300 during that period. I think it must have been around the Tet Offensive. If I recall correctly, that was about the time that Walter Cronkite turned against the war and LBJ said, I've lost middle America.
