So far, the intifada is not at all a war. It's more along the line of "mild domestic unrest". Israel can sustain that level of violence forever, as can the Palestinians

You're right, though that doesn't mean there isn't a real test of wills going on. I think people have a tendency to confuse the level of ink spilled over the Israeli/Pal situation with the level of blood.

They are also encouraged in this belief by hyperbolic Arab rhetoric, which continually speaks of Israeli "massacres", "genocides", etc. etc. Meantime the conflict in Algeria, which is killing at a rate several orders of magnitude greater, gets no ink in the US at all.
