What to do when a phone solicitor calls ---- it's pretty funny.

me: Hello?

them: (in an enthusiastic tone)- "Hi, I'm from XYZ and I have a special offer...."

me: (in an equally enthusiastic tone)- "Excuse me, I would be happy to talk to you. Why don't you give me YOUR home number and I'll call you collect just after YOU get home from work or, if you prefer, later while your eating dinner or watching a TV show or playing with your kids, if that works better for you."

them: (silence)....click

Dave, well done on the e-mail to CNBC.

I recently sent them one complaining about the over coverage of ENE hearings where politicians were just grand standing for their constituents. (If Congress were serious about the facts they would not have the tv camera on and they might even have more willing to testify to the facts.)

I also mentioned the screaming manic Jim Cramer who could take a lesson from Larry Kudlow in his demeanor. His ranting is distracting from something meaningful he might contribute. Any more when he gets on his tirade I switch over to Fox News and listen to the O'Reilly factor.

Bruce

Well written Dave. Keep us informed if you get a response from CNBC on this matter.

Thanks,

Jeff

Dave, that is pretty funny. It is your supposition that the talking heads on CNBC are the cause of the ups & downs of the markets, and can do so at their whim?
I think you give the talking heads too much credit. ORCL is/was in a dicey spot the last few days, t/a wise,
(it needed to retest 14.50 before it could retest 17.50, which is no surprise to technical traders) the earnings miss gave an excuse to sell.

CNBC is info-tainment, nothing more,, and I never watch, I let my screens tell me what is going on.
They are no different then crap tabloid newspapers, and you know the people who read and believe the stories they print. They speak to the intel level of their reader/viewership...If you don't like the message, flip the channel.

Dave. If they could just report the truth, and ask those analysts some real, tough questions. Of course that would eat into their advertising time, so no. They won't.

so you're saying that CNBC should be giving Paxil to the
market rather than prescribing an overdose of amphetamines
for the masses?<g>
