Eric Jensen has some, IMO, some amazing things bringing the latest in brain research to teachers and educators. We've been to his six day workshop, which was wonderful, and his Expo, which was valuable but not of the same quality. The six day he teaches himself; the expo is a wide range of presenters, some excellent, some mediocre, a few punk. Eric's stuff sometimes looks a bit too commercialized for my liking, but that's really Dianne's doing. She's the commercial side. He's just a really neat guy who has incredible connections with the people doing cutting edge research in understanding the interplay of learning and brain function. This is his web page start. jlcbrain.com Go to his Training and Workshops, and the 6 day workshops. I generally don't think very highly of workshops -- a lot of them are by people who have lost touch with classroom reality, or got burned out teaching and think putting on workshops is easier. But Eric is a special person with a special way of getting to the heart of what is valuable for the classroom teacher on a day-to-day basis. If you get a chance to go to one of his 6 day workshops, I think it will be an extraordinary experience for you. You have the imagination, creativity, and drive to actually understand and use this information for the benefit of the kids. And no, I'm not a paid promoter! <g> Just really impressed with somebody able to bring the best academic research straight to the heart of teaching kids in the classroom today. Anyhow, the energizers are very simple movements which change the state of your body and brain (since they're connected) to realign the body to enhance the ability to learn. P has been having her kids do energizers for several years now, and is convinced of their efficacy. Plus there are scores of other techniques she has brought back.
