I see nothing there I don't agree with.

I neither buy into or necessarily reject the idea that humans were created in God's image. (To be honest, I would be delighted to find that God is in the image of a Golden Retriever, with all their delightful qualities plus perhaps some added powers. Compared to them, I find the human form aesthetically to be wonting in the extreme).

Neither do I imagine that in the universe, humans rank very high on the scale of life-forms that may exist. I find many things about my body that annoy me greatly, useless parts and many that I myself could have designed much better. (Why are our fingers basically all the same, instead of resembling a multi-purpose tool, with screwdriver, knife, corkscrew, etc.?)

I am not being totally facetious here, Karen.

Much of the debates that I seem to get into involve issues concerning what various Scriptures say. Personally, I don't take any of them (Scriptures) very seriously or literally as representing the authoritative word of God. On the other hand, I do see much wisdom in them as guides to morality and living a good life. I think the story of Jesus is one of the most astonishing and compelling in recorded history, as perceived at this point in time. That His influence is as strong and pervasive today as it was 2,000 years ago lends credibility (to me) that His nature was more than mortal or ordinary. Plus I think the events surrounding His coming are documented and confirmed by the historical record as much as by Scripture. I only exist at this point on the time continuum. 10,000 years from now, all of this might look much different.

I find myself believing in Jesus because I have the prior belief that existence is purposeful and designed. I hold that belief because I see the universe as clearly following an unfolding of direction toward the more complex and the better. I reject the explanation of chance and randomness in favor of a Creator. Thus there is a "God" in my philosophy, and the Christian one is what I have chosen.

Were I to exist at a different time, my views and beliefs might be different. I accept also that others interpret their existence differently, as is their right and necessity.

(BTW, did you catch this story?)

Now, there's convergent evolution in action... quite independently, we came up with idea of checking the number on dice after the roll and judging whether it was predestined... see closing para.

ROFLMAO.

Except that, once again, I used far more words. I must work on improving this.
