Hi Pearly Button; I thought that the Earth's magnetic field flips every 200,000 years or so. The next flip is coming along fairly soon.

Prediction: When the magnetic field starts to flip, doomsayers will abound.

But the question for us is this: When the pole flips, will we have to reverse our definitions of stuff like "South Pacific" or "North Dakota", or will we instead have to reverse how we refer to magnetic fields? Maybe if we redefined electrons to have positive charge it would all work out. But this could definitely result in a diplomatic realignment of the "Northern" and "Southern" nations.
