In looking at the charts for similar mini day rally's as Fridays I found 21 in the past 2 years that were close. These contained a gap up and continual run with very minor pullbacks. Of those I found 1 that filled the gap in 2 days, 3/9/00. 6 that filled in 3 days, 8/24/01, 11/24/01, 11/14/01, 8/31/00, 4/18/00 and 3/8/00. 4 days for 6/5/01. 5 days from 5/21/01, 10/19/00 and 3/22/00. 6 days from 12/5/01. 8 days from 7/12/01 and 12/5/00. 10 days from 7/12/00. 11 days from 4/25/00 and 17 days from 8/17/00. On the extreme end were 102 days from 4/10/01 to 9/5/01, 108 days from 4/5/01 to 9/17/01 and I did not count the days from 5/30/00 to 10/11/00. The gap from 2/25/02 has not filled yet.

One difference I noticed is that the VIX was in the 34 to 40 range in April 01 when the sustained rally began and most of the only a few day wonders had the VIX in the low 20's or less although several were in the very high 20's

In most cases of the short time frame of filling the gap the high was the next day then basically down.

I don't know if this information means anything, but I do believe history many times repeats itself. Will look at this some more over the weekend comparing these dates and using some other indicators.
