You, a registered Republican? Doubt it. Nonetheless, I didn't forget, because you never told me before now. If you didn't switch in '80, I doubt you switched in '98. Jeffords wasn't a moderate voice; he wasn't a voice, and probably felt he had to do something to get somebody's attention. Has he been heard from since? Not, except based upon his party switch. That will be what he's remembered for, because he's so un-memorable. I hear non-stop hatred from leftists on every media available, from this thread to newspapers to television to whatever. If your wife changed parties after decades based upon one AM radio talk show's single program, which if true from your characterization was absolutely outrageous by any reasonable person's standards, that's her decision to make. Fortunately we live in a country where people can still make those types of decisions and voice their dissent. It's not the right wing I'm worried about stifling that true dissent, it's the left. That's a point of disagreement, I know.
