Hi Zeev -- there's no problem shorting stocks under $5. Even OTCBB stocks.

1. Your broker has to be willing to lend you the shares.

2. For stocks under $2.50, my broker requires I reserve $2.50 per share. That discourages shorting stocks under .... say $1.50 - $2.
