You may want to see how a short of a stock under $5 affects your available funds, it could be that they do not duck you 50% as in normal shorting, but the full 100% of the transaction.

You might want to move that down to $1.10-$1.12 to make sure you get a fill.<g> Also based on experience with Chuck Schwab they probably will put 100% equity equal in reserve, unlike most stocks $5 and up that have a 50% requirement (unless on the list of volatile stocks that carry higher minimum equity requirements). I'm pretty sure your order will not be "live" come Monday.

No brokerage allows GTC shorting orders, because shorting requires that borrowable shares be reserved. Obviously it would be unreasonable to reserve shares for periods longer than intraday.

Also I'm fairly sure Datek is NOT one of the brokers allowing shorting under $5. CSFBdirect and MB Trading are the best-known of the ones which do allow this.

i use datek and they don't accept orders under 5--and i have the elite service--i tried to short arba--and they wouldn't accept it
