How does delusion apply to amoebas, plants, or ants?

I was talking about JC and me, and we aren't amoebas, of course, and 'delusion' is a human concept, just as 'belief' is, and although an ant could enter an ant trap in search of eats, the ant's consequent death is probably not because he or she was 'delusional.'

Are you implying self-consciousness or intelligence is a necessary ingredient in hypothesizing either God's existence or nature?

I think human intelligence is a necessary ingredient in "hypothesizing" anything at all. Brain studies are getting more and more fascinating, though. Maybe some day we'll find out that whales and pigs hypothesize.
