Elmer, I can see you never plunge dep into potentially bad positions, so you will lose a few, and each loss will be small, as is each win.

One wonders why the big funds do not do this? or do they get into too big a position and blow off heads? I seem to have read about the hedge fund bloodbath we had.

Bill

Elmer:

"AMD has given the impression that they are in a fairly stable position with potential for upside. I don't believe it but we're dealing with market perceptions here, not just the view of a knowledgeable semiconductor professional."

For "knowledgable semiconductor professional" am I to read Elmer (in his own mind) You know, "the p3 and NW flood guy" and the only guy on the planet other than wannab and Paul who claim to have the inside goods on dismal yields at Dresden, the world's most advanced fab...The three stooges weren't nearly as comical as these wannab "knowledgeable semiconductor professionals" (at least on their own resumes)...hehehe!!!

Elmer,

You wrote "If you think this is just a crap shoot then I just don't think you know what you're talking about."

Ever read "A Random Walk Down Wall-Street" by Burton Gordon Malkiel? He argues quite persuasively that stock price changes are indeed best described by a random walk. Indeed, that it is very much a "crap shoot". This is a view shared by a large number of extremely sophisticated investors.
