One should, indeed...

A poke or two around biz.yahoo.com can be a quick introduction, IMO.

The Options Analysis Tool's various choices are worth the minute or so it takes to examine; the actives can also be eye-openers at times.

Bill Jackson asked why, if they(selling options) are so profitable, aren't the funds doing it? The answer is that the funds are doing it. They generate most of the options on the market. And to a large degree, the melt down of '87 was driven by the funds use of 'insurance' options.

But I think if we really wanted options lessons we'd ask Albert.
