Tuesday hdl. The new law goes into effect Tuesday. All high end notebooks sold after that date must have a 4i embedded in the back cover. But that's only the University and college notebooks. High school and grade school editions won't have to be in compliance for another two months. 0\|0

hdl, Not aware of any notebook plans for rdram. In theory, someone could just take an i850 mobo and make it small enough to fit in a laptop, but I don't know anyone trying to do it. If it works, so-rimm can be used, but I have not seen an so-rimm anywhere except as diagrams on webpages. Frankly, I doubt if a P4 mobo with rdram other than the esoteric semi-prototype will ever show up. P4 mobos are more likely to be sdram. Your biggest problem with laptops are still battery life, slow disk, slow graphics, slow IO. Memory is low in that list. (In fact, laptops typically switch to low CPU speed when not plugged in) My guess is i845 and then i845-G (integrated graphics) will have a chance of taking away a chunk of the P4 laptop market. (Laptops have also become very affordable. If you look in ubid.com you should be able to pick up a system you like). A decent laptop from HP with 14.1" tft and LAN and dvd-drive and PIII can be had for <800 all winter last year. However, you could search in google for P4 laptop and see what you find.
