It was a silly piece by Friedman.

As I said before, Nadine, it was nice to be able to agree with you in those earlier exchanges. Clearly here we're back to disagreeing. What I like about this series of Friedman columns is that it serves to keep an opening to negotiations, however slightly. And, in this case, I prefer balance to taking one side or the other.

I think the pursuit of the settlements is an issue; I think Sharon's provocations here are an issue; just as I think your points about Arafat walking away from the Clinton deal is an issue here.
