I never tried this but could you go into win explorer and copy the files you want and put them into a new folder?
If you could then open all the charts within that folder and save it as a template.

I'm sure there must be a better way but this just occurred to me.

Ken,
As you've seen, Metastock uses an "internal format". You can use the Downloader (comes with Metastock) to populate folders, or to add/copy/delete symbols in individual folders. Source data must exist in one of several formats, including ASCII or Metastock format.

The MSSmart folder is used to store "Smart Chart" details, not the table of contents for symbols in the folder. That info is in the "Emaster" file.

I use QuotesPlus (www.qp2.com) for EOD data. You've made a good choice. Create a .lst file with symbols of your choice (plain text - one line per symbol). Then use QP2 "Export to Metastock" to output the data to folder(s) using your list. Later, you can update the data in existing metastock folders with a different option in the same utility.

Good luck,

Paul
