tom,

No biotech subject in the top 50

I think these lists are "stale" in that they reflect bookmarks made by people who are no longer active SI users. Thus I think they largely reflect the SI of a few years ago.

Here's some evidence. The number 3 "hot person" is one donald sew. Here's a quote from one of his recent posts:

Sorry for not responding earlier but I really don't read SI much anymore. Just check my PM a few times a week.

Personally, I think biotech is becoming a somewhat more important part of the new reduced SI. Biotech threads often make up a chunk of the hot threads, and if you ignore the coffee-shop type political threads they become even more significant. The "daytrader" type threads still predominate of course.

Friday was ugly from a biotech perspective. Huge gains by the DOW and NASD and the biotechs didn't get an invitation to the party. Seemed to me like IVGN and PDLI put a damper on things. IVGN reduced its forecasts - unclear if this is company-specific or part of an overall genomics-trickle slowdown (or more likely both). PDLI is being hammered for being on that unforgiving cusp of profitability, and is starting to look pretty cheap.
