Is there a post anywhere that succinctly presents your solution to the ME problem?

I don't have a solution, Condor. The last eighteen months have transformed the problem from a border dispute, which is open to compromise solutions, to an existential dispute, which is not. (Unless you would consider the destruction of the State of Israel and the death & exile of five million Israelis a solution).

Since I don't favor the destruction of Israel, I can see no other course for the Israelis but trying to win the war of attrition that has been foisted on them. This is unlikely to bring peace but may achieve a sullen quiet. As things are set up now, Israel cannot negotiate with the PA.

There are only three choices: continue to fight, conquer or capitulate. As things stand, reconquest is looking likely, but most Israelis have little desire to hold onto the territories. It would be best if there could be some Mandate arranged for the de-PLO'd territories, probably under Jordanian administration, but I have no idea if it's feasible.
