Well I'm back on with my 600 and everything seems to be working fine and I didn't have to format my HD. I'm not sure exactly what cured my problem, I tried so many different things. I used a reg. repair program, extracted files from my OS CD, used my recovery disk, and many other things. I ended up losing my original desktop and email folders but all my other programs and files seem to be left intact.
Now for the next challenge I'm going to put in a new HD and DVD rom into my PIII 1 Gig. I may be back for more help later.

I am running Windows XP home edition on my new pc. So far I like it but there is one visual thing that bothers me. I use the XP gui base and have my toolbar set for silver. I hate the way the start button is GREEN! Is there any way to change the color of that button? I know its minimal but it drives me nuts.

TIA
