I'm surprised you, film maven extraordinaire, haven't seen them in the famous Cecil B. DeMille 1920's film, The Volga Boatman, starring William Boyd, in which William wears an attractive beige-toned suede thong, the symbolic representation of the earth, and also, though secondarily, the donkey-toned representation of the boatmen as human mules.
